Coupon Lingo

As we post on here we will be abbreviating a lot of words so here is our coupon lingo:

1) The most commonly misunderstood phrase on a coupon in “one per purchase.” What this actually means is one per item. You are purchasing each item, are you not? So each item, no matter how many you have, is a purchase. It does NOT means one per transaction. If it meant that it would say so. Cashiers and even many managers misunderstand this phrase. If yours do be sure to politely ask them to check with their corporate office. Even better, volunteer to call them yourself (and have the number in your wallet or purse).

2) When your coupon says “one per transaction,” it means that you can only use one when you are purchasing one or more items whether they are the same or not. You may use another if you pay for the first transaction and then do another transaction. As a matter of fact I have done as many as four transactions consecutively using identical “one per transaction” coupons in each with no problem.

3) “One per order” means the same as “one per transaction.”

4) B1G1 or BOGO - Buy One Get One FREE

5) BLINKIES - These are found in stores in a box most often the box will have a red blinking light on it

6) Cat or Catalina - Coupons that come from a box next to the CRT machine

7) DND - Do Not Double

8) Double Coupon - Means the value of the coupon is doubled at the register

9) FAR - Free After Rebate

10) IP - Internet Printable Coupon

11) MIR - Mail In Rebate - you have to mail it to a clearing house to redeem

12) OOP - Out Of Pocket

13) OYNP - On Your Next Purchase

14) P&G - Proctor & Gamble Sunday insert coupons

15) PEELIE - coupon's found on product that are sticky unless removed carefully

16) RP - Red Plum Sunday Insert Coupons

17) SS - Smart Source or Sunday Insert coupons

18) TEAR PAD - A pad of refund forms or coupons found hanging from a store shelf or display

19) WYB - When You Buy - additional purcahse is required to redeem

I know, I know a lot of abbreviations, but it will make your life a lot easier if you understand them all.
